Wavepool Updates

Mateus Herdy's Solo Session in the Wavegarden Cove

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 June, 2017 - Wavegarden has just dropped the latest edit featuring their new Cove technology. There was much excitement surrounding the company when they began testing their innovative systems in the Basque Country in 2005. Since then they've launched systems in Wales and America with plans in the works for Spain, Scotland, Australia and elsewhere around the globe.

A month ago they launched a clip featuring World Tour pros like Sebastian Zietz ripping the new Cove technology (capable of producing 1000 per hour). And now they've released a clip to show that groms can rip the pool just as hard.

"Recently we invited 16 yr old Brazilian surf prodigy Mateus Herdy to drop past our R&D demo centre in Spain to trial the Wavegarden Cove on his new Pukas surfboards," Wavegarden said in a statement. "Rated as one of the most talented junior surfers in the world, the young upstart was able to put his equipment through its paces in a solo session he won’t be forgetting any time soon."

Mateus is the son of Alexandre Herdy and the nephew of Guilherme Herdy, both former pros and surf legends in Brazil.

While Wavegarden’s first generation technology is in use commercially many pool users have been calling for a system with hollower waves that come through more frequently than the current design.

“We have been working really hard behind the scenes on a new type of technology that makes up to 1000 great waves per hour,” the company said in a statement. “Plenty of surfers have already tested it out and have all been really impressed with the quality and frequency of the waves.”
