Bodyboard Updates

Event two of the 2017 Inverted Queensland Bodyboarding Titles presented by Pride Bodyboards to hit the Gold Coast this weekend

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 June, 2017 - Gold Coast, Queensland - Event Two of the 2017 Inverted Queensland Bodyboarding Titles presented by Pride Bodyboards kicks off this weekend on the Gold Coast. Preparations are well underway, with a long range forecast showing a sizeable southerly swell building throughout the week leaving organisers confident of optimal conditions to wrap up the series for another year.

After a first placed finish in the Open Men’s division at Event 1 on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coaster Calen Jordan (Palm Beach, QLD) will aim to utilize his local knowledge to put another result on the board and lock in a State Title for 2017. Junior up and comer Alex Boggis (Peregian, QLD) will not make it easy for Jordan this weekend, coming off the back of a close third place finish at Event 1. Representing the Sunshine Coast contingent, Boggis will look to prove himself against the more experienced surfers in the Open Men’s division.

“The Gold Coast has some excellent punchy beach breaks that are well suited to bodyboarding. With this southerly swell on it’s way, we’re really looking forward to seeing Queensland’s best battle it out this weekend,” said Surfing Queensland Events Manager Dev Lahey.

Two time Queensland Open Women’s Champion Britt Ladley (Mermaid Waters, QLD) will look to continue her fine form for 2017 after taking out her division at Event 1 on the Sunshine Coast. Ladley will take advantage of years of competitive experience in the water as she goes up against a draw of new talent this weekend.

Event 2 will see Champions crowned across eight individual divisions from Under 14’s to Over 45’s this weekend. Series winners will form the Queensland Bodyboarding Team for 2017 set to compete at the National Bodyboarding Titles at the Australian Surf Festival on the Tweed Coast in July/August.
